Mighty Argo Cable Car
A gondola from the Argo Mill on Riverside Drive to Miners Point at 8,800 feet, about ten minutes each way over Virginia Canyon Mountain Park, running every day of the year, weather permitting, with cabins that carry bikes.
The Mighty Argo’s cable car leaves from the Argo Mill on Riverside Drive and climbs over Virginia Canyon Mountain Park to Miners Point at 8,800 feet, about ten minutes each way. The operator’s system figures: a Doppelmayr D-Line detachable gondola 1.2 miles long, with 1,250 feet of vertical on 16 towers, 22 passenger cabins (four with glass floors), five bike cabins carrying eight bikes each, and a cargo cabin; its FAQ puts the ride at 1.3 miles and 1,300 vertical feet. At the top the operator lists two bars, a restaurant, an amphitheater for its live music, a scenic overlook and the park’s trails. The City of Idaho Springs’ April 2026 news release set the cable car’s ribbon cutting for 24 April 2026.
It runs year-round, every day, weather permitting; high wind and lightning stop the line, and a ticket for a cancelled ride is refunded or moved. The last passenger cabin up leaves an hour before closing, the last bike cabin 30 minutes before, and the last cabin down 15 minutes before; food service closes an hour before closing. On 10 October 2026 the ticket table showed a fall sale: an all-day cable car ticket $39.95 for adults (regularly $49.95), $19.95 for ages 6 to 17 and $34.95 for seniors and military, with Idaho Springs residents riding free on proof of residency. Entry is timed, and tickets can be changed or refunded up to the booked time. Only Class 1 e-bikes may use the bike cabins. Dogs are allowed everywhere but the mill tour. Parking on site is paid. The Mighty Argo is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Hours, prices and phone were read on the Mighty Argo’s Plan Your Visit page, and the system figures and season on its cable car page, on 10 October 2026; the plan page gave that day’s last cabin times (“6pm on Oct 10th”) and the fall sale, the dated evidence that it is operating.
